GE Aerospace

UX Design Co-op | Fall 2024

GE Aerospace is a world-leading provider of jet and turboprop engines, as well as integrated systems for commercial, military, business, and general aviation aircraft.

While at GE, I worked in Digital Technology on the UX design team. I planned, led, and organized user research, to then develop an interface change for DTE (Digital Thread Engineer platform). I worked quickly to transition 4 applications on the same site to align with our design system, collaborating with product owners and developers to ensure heightened usability. I also developed leadership skills by joining the intern creative team, where I was responsible for leading and guiding current and new co-ops to prepare for their time at GE Aerospace.

This is the old homepage. DTE users rarely utilized it. Why?

  • It provides a limited number of working features

  • It’s confusing to navigate [help & documentation]

  • It lacks user control [flexibility & efficiency of use]

We want to change that so we can…

  • Help users navigate quickly through their workflows

  • Allow for a cohesive flow across the entire platform

  • Provide beneficial information to each user, no matter what their role may be

“To change a behavior ➔ Something new needs to exist that can’t be done anywhere else on the platform.”
